Blog Post #7

I have been using Twitter for many years, but I have been using it in my EME class for about 10 weeks. When I first started using Twitter I had no idea how to use it. I only made a Twitter because all of my friends had one and I felt left out. I just uploaded and profile picture and made a username. I had no followers and I did not follow anyone. I did not know how to use hashtags or know what hashtags were used for. I didn’t even know how to follow my friends or gain followers. Once my friends taught me how to follow others, the app became more fun. My friends taught me how to retweet. I would tweet and retweet everything. I would tweet everything I was doing and tweet about who I am with. I would also post pictures with friends. I would usually only retweet funny tweets from my friends or cute pictures of puppies. Many people use Twitter to just update others what they are doing and who they are with. But some individuals use it to tweet about all their opinions on different subjects, to tweet funny jokes for retweets, or to tweet about news going on in the world. Twitter has been beneficial to me because it keeps me connected to my friends and keeps me updated on the news. Nowadays in our society many important figures ,like our president, use Twitter to inform citizens about what is going on and many news stations also use it inform individuals on what is happening. Twitter has taught me to be a more informed citizen and how to stay involved with my friends. I have not experienced any issues using Twitter. The only negative thing I could say is that it is addicting! I am always checking twitter because it is fun and makes me laugh!
The Web Design assignment has taught me a lot. This assignment was the first opportunity I was given to create and design my own website. For my assignment, I decided to use weebly.com because I found it to be the easiest one to navigate through. From this assignment I used the CRAP principles to make my website more appealing. I learned how to make links open in new tabs from my website. I also learned how to add a Google calendar to my website. Weebly made it incredibly easy to learn how to create my own website. I also found many tutorials on YouTube to personalize my website even more. I liked how I had the freedom to create and design my website in any way I wanted. At first, I did not enjoy this assignment because I was scared. I had never created a website before and I thought I wouldn't be able to learn how to. But after spending a few hours researching how to create one and watching many online tutorials, I got the hang of it. I now feel experienced enough to do another assignment and create an even better one. I am glad this assignment was assigned to me because it will prepare me for my future. When I become a teacher, I will need to create my own class website so this was a good opportunity for me to play around and learn everything about creating a website. Next time, I will try to use even more tools and specialize my website even more! I had a lot of fun designed my classroom website. Here is my website link: http://aneliurrutia.weebly.com/

Assistive technology refers to assistive, adaptive, and rehabilitative devices for individuals with disabilities. These technologies support learners by providing them with an easier way to learn a concept based on their disability. In today's society, most individuals use technology everyday. We see students using tablets and laptops to look up information or  play educational games. Technology is very common to use in schools. For example, students use laptops everyday to complete their school work and write reports. Students have many different learning methods so it is important to have many different technologies that students can have access to. Students can personalize their learning using these different technologies. These technologies include devices that red digital texts so individuals with vision impairment can learn. There are also devices that can help individuals with hearing impairments. I do not personally know anyone that has used these technologies, but I volunteer with special education students so I am familiar with disabilities. I want to be a special education teacher so I do not believe I will have any problems incorporating these technologies in my future classroom. I think these technologies will improve these students' work ethic and help them succeed in the classroom setting. These technologies are beneficial for everyone.

ILP #1 "Participation"

For my independent learning project, I decided to do a Lynda.com. I accessed this by going onto my fsu.edu and in the resources tab I found Lynda.com. This website is a learning platform that helps individuals learn business, software, technology, and creative skills to achieve personal and professional goals. It includes a library of videos and tutorials of top-quality courses taught by industry experts. The tutorials also come in many languages and there are tutorials for everyone! I really enjoyed using Lynda.com and I encourage anyone to use it. They have such a variety of tutorials and subjects that everyone can find something they are interested in! After looking through all the courses that lynda.com offers, I decided i wanted to improve my skills in Microsoft Word. There were many other options in every subject you can think of.  I choose the tutorial called "master Microsoft word." There were so many categories of different things to learn. I learned how to format ...

Hello! My name is Aneli Urrutia. I am currently a freshman studying at Florida State University. I just changed my major form nursing to special education. My parents are from Cuba but I was born in Miami. I speak Spanish. I have lived in Weston, Florida my whole life. Since I grew up in south Florida, I learned to love the beach. I love to go to the beach to get tan and relax. It is a great stress reliever. I also really love animals. I have three dogs. I have two chihuahuas and a doberman pinscher. In educational settings, I personally have not used much technology. I have experience using my phone, laptops, computers, and IPads from school, but that's really it. I have seen my teachers use technology during my educational experiences. I have seen teachers use smart-boards and overhead projectors, but I have never used them myself. I have also had teachers use the same technology I have like laptops and televisions.  From this class I hope to learn more about technology i...
