ILP #2 "Participation"

For my independent learning project, I decided to use Lynda.com again. Lynda.com is a learning platform website that helps individuals learn business, software, technology, and creative skills to achieve personal and professional goals. It includes a library of videos and tutorials of top-quality courses taught by industry experts. For my EME class, I was assigned an assignment that I have to use Excel for. I decided to use Lynda.com to become more educated using Excel. I did an Excel tutorial to learn the basis, since I was unfamiliar using this program. This was a great opportunity to learn more about Excel and do great on my assignment. This is a screenshot of me using Lynda.com to learn new skills on Excel! Prior to my assignment in this EME class, I had never used Excel. I knew that Excel is used by teachers for grading and by many business professionals.  Microsoft Excel  is a spreadsheet program . Spreadsheets present tables of values arranged in rows and columns t...

A flipped classroom is a teaching strategy. This strategy reverses the roles of a traditional learning environment. A traditional learning environment consists of instructional content being delivered in the classroom. A teacher will teach their students in the classroom. But a flipped classroom is where instructional content is delivered outside of the classroom. Students will learn the material at home and discuss it in the classroom. In a flipped classroom, students watch online lectures or collaborate in online discussions while engaging in concepts in the classroom with their teacher. Students will come to class with questions they have accumulated from learning material by themselves at home. I think having a flipped classroom strategy can we very effective but there are still pros and cons to it. For example, it allows students to work on their own time and create flexible schedules. It allows students to have control. But it may also cause students ...

Diigo is a social bookmarking website that allows individuals to bookmark and tag web pages. It also allows users to highlight, annotate, and add sticky notes to webpages. An individual can then share these annotations with other Diigo users, which makes this tool even better! I was introduced to Diigo in my EME class and I have been using it for a few weeks now! I have learned a lot. I have learned how to link my annotations to a group and learned how to share web pages with other individuals. Prior to my technology class, I had never heard of Diigo but now I am a big fan of it. I have even started to introduce it to my friends. Using Diigo has taught me how to annotate and read web pages better. I feel like it is easier to understand and comprehend information from web pages when I can write notes on my own laptop screen. Diigo allows individuals create groups where other individuals can share and comment on each other's links. This makes it easy to work on class projects. I can ...

I have been using Twitter for many years, but I have been using it in my EME class for about 10 weeks. When I first started using Twitter I had no idea how to use it. I only made a Twitter because all of my friends had one and I felt left out. I just uploaded and profile picture and made a username. I had no followers and I did not follow anyone. I did not know how to use hashtags or know what hashtags were used for. I didn’t even know how to follow my friends or gain followers. Once my friends taught me how to follow others, the app became more fun. My friends taught me how to retweet. I would tweet and retweet everything. I would tweet everything I was doing and tweet about who I am with. I would also post pictures with friends. I would usually only retweet funny tweets from my friends or cute pictures of puppies. Many people use Twitter to just update others what they are doing and who they are with. But some individuals use it to tweet about all their opinions on different subje...

I learned how to format ...

Many schools require teachers to maintain a class website. On their website they usually include basic information like their name and any updates on class assignments. These websites also usually include a welcoming page and a quick description about the teacher. The website might also include links to other helpful resources that help students. On Google, I searched elementary school class websites and viewed a couple of them. Many of them shared the same basic information. They were all appealing to look at too. They each had multiple tabs. One tab was a welcome tab which included basic information like the teachers name and the grade level. Many of them also included a helpful resources tab and a homework tab. For example I found a class website from a teacher from Dallin Elementary School. The link is http://missfish2ndgrade.weebly.com/. This is a class website from a second grade teacher named Miss. Fish. Her website includes many organized tabs. She has a home, homework...
