Many teachers and students use technology everyday in the classroom. Teachers and students use laptops, smartphones, I Pads, and more. Since technology is becoming more predominant, it has been seen a lot in classrooms and educational settings. For example, students are now using textbooks online instead of using paper copies. Since smartphones are everywhere, it influences both teachers and students to use them and learn from them. Also, since most educational resources are now online, individuals are influenced to use more technology to learn new information.
There are seven ISTE standards. They are empowered learner, digital citizen, knowledge constructor, innovative designer, computational thinker, creative communicator, and global collaborator. One standard that is meaningful to me is global collaborator. It is important to collaborate with other peers. It helps you learn new ideas from different perspectives. Every individual interprets things differently. Seeing all the different aspects to a subject will also help you engage and learn more about the topic. By learning and keeping an open mind, it helps individuals grow as a person.
One standard that is out of my skill set is creative communicator. This is out of my skill set because I am very shy and not creative at all. I am not good at coming up with creative ideas to help students learn a concept, so I believe this standard would be challenging for me. Innovative designer would also be a challenging standard because I cannot solve problems by creating new, useful or imaginative solutions.

A "digital native" is a person born or brought up during the age of digital technology that is familiar with computers and the Internet from an early age. These are children that grew up with smartphones, laptops, I Pads, etc. A "digital immigrant" is a person born or brought up before the widespread use of digital technology. These individuals have learned to use recent technology. They had to learn how to use laptops and other new technologies. I do believe that today's youth are "digital natives." With my experience, I see individuals from older generations struggle with using new technology. For example, older adults are slow at texting or typing on laptops. They are also not aware with all the new social media and apps that smartphones contain. Today, younger generations grow up using technology. For example, children use their I Pad or tablets to learn the alphabet, learn numbers and shapes or play other educational games. The educational setting today is also all about technology. Schools use online exams and textbooks to teach their students. I believe technology has impacted our educational setting in a positive way. Technology makes it easy for students to access research and makes it easy to type out their work. I believe future students will have even better technology than I had growing up. I think they will be more advanced and have different opportunities than I did.
