blog post #3

There are a total of three technology standards for first grade. The first one is to know and use various text features, like the table of contents, to locate key facts or information in a text. The second standard is to use a variety of digital tools to produce and publish writing, including in collaboration with peers  with guidance and support from adults. The last standard is to ask and answer questions about key details in a text read aloud or information presented orally or through other media. I would feel most prepared to teach my students how to ask and answer questions about key details in a text read aloud or information presented orally. I would teach my students to focus and listen when information is read aloud. I would play an audiobook off a smartphone or mp3 and have my students listen. I would then ask my students questions about the book and ask specific questions about the story to make sure they were paying attention. Another standard I feel prepared to teach is to use different digital tools to produce and publish writing with guidance and support from adult. I would accomplish this by creating a class blog. A class blog would allow students to post their own stories and interact with each other. It will also teach them how to publish their blog so their classmates can read it. Since first graders are young, this will be done with appropriate adult supervision. To teach my students the standard about using various text features to locate information and key facts would require more learning on my part. I would learn how to navigate through online textbooks so I can then teach my students to do this. I will also create scavenger hunts on websites to teach my students to navigate through websites.

If I was a teacher, I would teach first grade. I would like to teach the subject of social studies.
CPALMS is an online resource for K-12 educators. This website offers many resources and
tools for lesson plans for educators. Using CPALMS I was able to find a lesson plan for a first
grade social studies lesson. The lesson plan is called “David’s big problem.” In this lesson
my students will learn how to work collaboratively in guided groups. In these groups they
will learn how  to resolve conflicts while demonstrating respect and kindness.CPALMS includes
attachments with copyright for me to use, which is extremely helpful. I would put my students
into groups of four or less. Each group will have a chart that has Peacemaker on one side of the
page and Peace breaker on the other. Then each group will write down words describing
each type of person and share it with the class. I would use this resource in my classroom
because it provides a thorough day to day lesson plan to teach my students about peace
in the world. This website also provides resources that are copyright, so it is legal for me
to be using them.

The Newsletter Design assignment taught me many new skills. This assignment taught me how to
use Microsoft Word better. I learned how to have control over column, section, and page breaks.
At first, this was a very difficult task and I did not like it. It was hard to create columns because
the order of my work kept getting out of order.  I also learned how to add borders to my page.
This was my first time adding a border to my paper, so it was difficult to figure it out at first.
It was fun and easy to add graphics to my newsletter. I just had to copy and paste an image
onto my page. I also learned how to create a permission slip at the bottom of my page which
was also fairly easy to accomplish. I enjoy using word art on Microsoft Word so it was fun to
include that in my assignment. The next time I do this assignment, I will make sure it uploads
directly to canvas. When I originally uploaded it, the newsletter format got out of order and it
was difficult to read. It was also an inconvenience for my teacher. So next time I will make sure
this formatting issue does not occur. This assignment will be used in my future career
because I want to make weekly newsletters for students and their parents.

ILP #1 "Participation"

For my independent learning project, I decided to do a Lynda.com. I accessed this by going onto my fsu.edu and in the resources tab I found Lynda.com. This website is a learning platform that helps individuals learn business, software, technology, and creative skills to achieve personal and professional goals. It includes a library of videos and tutorials of top-quality courses taught by industry experts. The tutorials also come in many languages and there are tutorials for everyone! I really enjoyed using Lynda.com and I encourage anyone to use it. They have such a variety of tutorials and subjects that everyone can find something they are interested in! After looking through all the courses that lynda.com offers, I decided i wanted to improve my skills in Microsoft Word. There were many other options in every subject you can think of.  I choose the tutorial called "master Microsoft word." There were so many categories of different things to learn. I learned how to format ...

I have been using Twitter for many years, but I have been using it in my EME class for about 10 weeks. When I first started using Twitter I had no idea how to use it. I only made a Twitter because all of my friends had one and I felt left out. I just uploaded and profile picture and made a username. I had no followers and I did not follow anyone. I did not know how to use hashtags or know what hashtags were used for. I didn’t even know how to follow my friends or gain followers. Once my friends taught me how to follow others, the app became more fun. My friends taught me how to retweet. I would tweet and retweet everything. I would tweet everything I was doing and tweet about who I am with. I would also post pictures with friends. I would usually only retweet funny tweets from my friends or cute pictures of puppies. Many people use Twitter to just update others what they are doing and who they are with. But some individuals use it to tweet about all their opinions on different subje...

Hello! My name is Aneli Urrutia. I am currently a freshman studying at Florida State University. I just changed my major form nursing to special education. My parents are from Cuba but I was born in Miami. I speak Spanish. I have lived in Weston, Florida my whole life. Since I grew up in south Florida, I learned to love the beach. I love to go to the beach to get tan and relax. It is a great stress reliever. I also really love animals. I have three dogs. I have two chihuahuas and a doberman pinscher. In educational settings, I personally have not used much technology. I have experience using my phone, laptops, computers, and IPads from school, but that's really it. I have seen my teachers use technology during my educational experiences. I have seen teachers use smart-boards and overhead projectors, but I have never used them myself. I have also had teachers use the same technology I have like laptops and televisions.  From this class I hope to learn more about technology i...
