Blog Post #5

Diigo is a social bookmarking website that allows users
to bookmark and tag Web pages. It also allows the users to highlight any part of a web page and attach sticky notes to the webpages. These annotations made using Diigo can be made public so individuals can share with their friends or they can be kept private for your own personal notes. I was first introduced to Diigo in my EME class this year. Prior to this class, I had never even heard of it. I had my first experience using this tool last week in class. Our class created a group on Diigo so that we could each post our individual links and comment on each other’s posts. We each posted a link to a website that addresses academic software. In the Diigo group, I was able to see all my classmates’ links and comment on them which was really fun. I really enjoyed using Diigo for the first time and I will continue to use it. It will be extremely helpful for me to use while studying. Sometimes my teachers assign me homework online or post readings online to read so Diigo makes it easy for me to annotate and highlight my assignments. I will continue to use this tool!
I have had a great experience blogging so far. I was first introduced to blogging in my EME class too.
When I was in middle school I use to enjoy reading blogs, but I had never written
my own or even thought about it. So my first blogging experience was introduced to me by
this class. I write a new blog weekly. This is my fifth blog post! Time has been going by so fast this semester! I have really enjoyed blogging so far. Blogger is a great website that allows me to publish my blogs. Blogger is also full of cool designs so I get to make my blog look just how I want it to. I enjoy blogging because it is fun to put my thoughts into words and have my classmates read them. Blogging is fun and personal which is why I have enjoyed it so much. The blogging process has taught me how to create a visually pleasing webpage. My blog posts are always posted in pink and white which are my favorite colors. My blog has also taught me to be more creative and open with my thoughts.

Web 2.0 is the second stage of development of the World Wide Web,
characterized especially by the change from static web pages to dynamic
or user-generated content and the growth of social media. Web 2.0 tools have
become more common in educational settings. There are many examples like Twitter, blogs,
Diigo, etc. If I become a teacher the web 2.0 tool I would use would be Youtube. Youtube is
video-based platform. Individuals use it to watch, create, and share videos with other
individuals. Individuals can comment on each others videos. Youtube has many educational
videos published. This will be helpful because I can send links to those videos to my students.
I can also record and set up content-focused channels on mt channel for my students to
view and comment. This is beneficial to my students because they will be able to see me
and hear my voice to learn lessons that I post on Youtube. This is definitely a tool I hope
to use with my students in the future.

ILP #1 "Participation"

For my independent learning project, I decided to do a Lynda.com. I accessed this by going onto my fsu.edu and in the resources tab I found Lynda.com. This website is a learning platform that helps individuals learn business, software, technology, and creative skills to achieve personal and professional goals. It includes a library of videos and tutorials of top-quality courses taught by industry experts. The tutorials also come in many languages and there are tutorials for everyone! I really enjoyed using Lynda.com and I encourage anyone to use it. They have such a variety of tutorials and subjects that everyone can find something they are interested in! After looking through all the courses that lynda.com offers, I decided i wanted to improve my skills in Microsoft Word. There were many other options in every subject you can think of.  I choose the tutorial called "master Microsoft word." There were so many categories of different things to learn. I learned how to format ...

I have been using Twitter for many years, but I have been using it in my EME class for about 10 weeks. When I first started using Twitter I had no idea how to use it. I only made a Twitter because all of my friends had one and I felt left out. I just uploaded and profile picture and made a username. I had no followers and I did not follow anyone. I did not know how to use hashtags or know what hashtags were used for. I didn’t even know how to follow my friends or gain followers. Once my friends taught me how to follow others, the app became more fun. My friends taught me how to retweet. I would tweet and retweet everything. I would tweet everything I was doing and tweet about who I am with. I would also post pictures with friends. I would usually only retweet funny tweets from my friends or cute pictures of puppies. Many people use Twitter to just update others what they are doing and who they are with. But some individuals use it to tweet about all their opinions on different subje...

First Blog

Hello! My name is Aneli Urrutia. I am currently a freshman studying at Florida State University. I just changed my major form nursing to special education. My parents are from Cuba but I was born in Miami. I speak Spanish. I have lived in Weston, Florida my whole life. Since I grew up in south Florida, I learned to love the beach. I love to go to the beach to get tan and relax. It is a great stress reliever. I also really love animals. I have three dogs. I have two chihuahuas and a doberman pinscher. In educational settings, I personally have not used much technology. I have experience using my phone, laptops, computers, and IPads from school, but that's really it. I have seen my teachers use technology during my educational experiences. I have seen teachers use smart-boards and overhead projectors, but I have never used them myself. I have also had teachers use the same technology I have like laptops and televisions.  From this class I hope to learn more about technology i...
